Just Catching Up

The "lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer" are hazy and crazy, but I'm still waiting for the lazy part. It has been non-stop "go" for months. So I thought that I would just share a few thoughts today, I will be "equal opportunity" in how I deal with the various political entities I'll skewer.

The Dems/Libs - Some of the blogs were absolutely disgusting in their glee over the medical predicament of the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. They truly are the party of hate and division.

The Repubs/? - I have always voted for the candidate rather than the party, but I have also, for years, voted primarily for Republican candidates even though I am registered as an "Independent." The gap between Conservative and Republican has, however, continued to grow at an alarming rate. I have been of the opinion that voting for a "third party" candidate was really a wasted vote. No longer, since I now believe that most of my votes in the past several decades have been wasted. We need a new system, or a new party - or something!

I really would like to see your comments on these two subjects.

I feel the same way about wishing there were more Independent candidates. Unfortunately, the whole system has to change before more candidates will go that way. Without the rubber stamp of one of the "major" parties, candidates don't get the debate opportunities or exposure they feel they'll need to win (and they're probably right). Meanwhile, I'm forced to register Republican just so I can play a meaningful part in the political process. Just don't tell any of my fellow Nutmeggers, because I could seriously get lynched...

Of course, there is one Nutmegger candidate I could probably get behind - and he's a Dem! He's seriously not interested, however.

Curt,
I finally got on your blog & read some of it. I knew we were soul brothers. I agree completely on your political thoughts, & I really enjoyed Be THE Man. I wish more churches spoke the truth plainly. i.e. If u want to lead in the church, u better be leading at home. Men should seek to be rich in faith as James says in Ch. 2. Great to hear your Bosnia trip went well. A big hello to Sunnie and Jenna! Lots of affection to Sandra as well! Jeff G. - near Wally-World HQ

I hate to admit it, Curt, but I am an "Ostrich with my head in the sand", kind of girl. I do vote conservative, but don't research the candidate as I know I should. I do know that TacCom has been involved in security for the visiting "dignitaries" (I use that term very loosely); it is amazing how one side is very considerate about time and schedule changes...and the other side, well, not so much.
I hope you have some R & R in the near future...enjoy the time with the grand-babies!

You can say whatever you want about the system, the parties, etc. My insight is that a man named Huckabee simply can't get elected. Who would be willing to say "President Huckabee"?

Sounds waay better than President Clinton or Obama....(excuse me while I bite my tongue!!!) I mean, think about it...we had a President Garfield!!! (okay, I know, that was 120 years ago...)Little Sis and I are looking up the funniest sounding president's names that we can find, as I type!! Eisenhower?

p.s. Little Sis says she thinks "Obama" sounds waay to much like "Osama".....(one sec while I bite my tongue again..)

Curt,

I'm with you on starting a new party and praying for reformation of the entire system! There are so few canidates! I think the trouble is all you have to do and be in order to get that far! It is comforting to know that God is in charge. I believe that honoring Him in all our decisions--including picking the best man for the job is all we can do--although it is getting to be a choice between bad and worse sometimes! : )
